3:11 whenever the unclean spirits saw him. Although the crowds are Jewish (cf. 7:26–29), Jesus is constantly meeting people possessed with evil spirits. In the presence of Jesus the true nature of the combat (Eph. 6:12) becomes evident. The demons are exposed, and they expose the true identity of Jesus, the Son of God (1:1; 15:39 and notes).
