3:8 great crowd. The phrase is repeated twice (vv. 8, 9). Jesus’ public ministry, in spite of the opposition of the ruling elite (v. 6), is becoming a mass movement. Jesus is so crowded that He must take refuge in a small boat (v. 9). People are coming to Galilee from everywhere to hear Him.
