1:8–16 This lament has three parts: an introduction, stating Micah’s resolve to mourn Judah’s exile (vv. 8, 9); a main body, with a series of wordplays on the names of Judah’s stronghold predicting Judah’s fall and exile (vv. 10–15); and a conclusion, calling the house of David to join in mourning rites because it will go into exile (v. 16).
