3:3 we are the real circumcision. In response to the Judaizers and their mistaken emphasis upon the external physical rite of circumcision, Paul asserts that Christians are the true circumcision, i.e., the spiritual Israel (Gal. 3:6–4:7).

glory in Christ Jesus. This stands in stark contrast to “confidence in the flesh.”

flesh. As used by Paul, this term often embraces all that is natural and human. In this verse, however, the physical act of circumcision is probably in view (v. 5; Gal. 6:12–15).
