1:10–19 These verses make up another unit in the instruction form. Possibly this form was a teaching tool in more formal education outside the home as wise men taught their pupils. The conditional “if” clauses (vv. 10, 11) indicate the situations to which this wisdom applies. The command in v. 15 is supported by the reasons for it in vv. 16–19.
