Ps 69:21

69:21 poison . . . sour wine. The bitterness of gall is proverbial. When the psalmist suffers such maltreatment, he responds with a curse (vv. 22–29). The metaphor became a reality when Jesus Christ was offered vinegar at His crucifixion (John 19:29). He responded with compassion for those who tormented Him.
