ark. The ark of the covenant was the most holy object in the tabernacle (Ex. 25:10–22). It was normally concealed from sight behind the tabernacle curtains. The revealing of this innermost object signifies that God has revealed His glory, both the glory of His law (the covenant words) and of His mercy (as signified by the atonement cover).
