6:2 white horse. On the basis of similarities with 19:11, some think that Christ appears here, conquering through the gospel. More probably, the white horse symbolizes conquest as one form of earthly calamity. Thus the calamity of vv. 1, 2 is parallel to the calamities of vv. 3–8 (6:1–8:1 note).
