²⁶ He took away all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, even all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. ²⁷ King Rehoboam replaced them with bronze shields and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard who guarded the king’s house. ²⁸ And whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guards carried them and brought them back into the guard chamber.
