¹⁴ Azariah begot ^(A)Seraiah, and Seraiah begot Jehozadak.

¹⁵ Jehozadak went into captivity ^(A)when the Lord carried Judah and Jerusalem into captivity by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

³ But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel said to them, ^(A)“You may do nothing with us to build a ^[a]house for our God; but we alone will build to the Lord God of Israel, as ^(B)King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

The Priests and Levites^(A)

12 Now these are the ^(B)priests and the Levites who came up with ^(C)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: ^(D)Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

⁸ Moreover the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah ^(A)who led the thanksgiving psalms, he and his brethren.

The Command to Build God’s House^(A)

1 In ^(B)the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by ^(C)Haggai the prophet to ^(D)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to ^(E)Joshua the son of ^(F)Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
