²³ As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray^(A) for you. And I will teach^(B) you the way that is good and right.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.^(A)

¹⁴ They all joined together constantly in prayer,^(A) along with the women^(B) and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.^(C)

¹⁶ I have not stopped giving thanks for you,^(A) remembering you in my prayers.^(B)

⁴ In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray^(A) with joy

⁹ For this reason, since the day we heard about you,^(A) we have not stopped praying for you.^(B) We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will^(C) through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,^[a](D)

¹¹ With this in mind, we constantly pray for you,^(A) that our God may make you worthy^(B) of his calling,^(C) and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness^(D) and your every deed prompted by faith.^(E)

Thanksgiving

³ I thank God,^(A) whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience,^(B) as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.^(C)
