²⁸ So Samuel said to him, ^(A)“The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you.

^9 (A)May God do so to Abner, and more also, if I do not do for David ^(B)as the Lord has sworn to him—

¹⁰ to transfer the kingdom from the ^[a]house of Saul, and set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba.”

^3 (A)Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, ^(B)and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron ^(C)before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel.
