²² Now Eli, who was very old, heard about everything^(A) his sons were doing to all Israel and how they slept with the women^(B) who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

²⁹ Why do you^[a] scorn my sacrifice and offering^(A) that I prescribed for my dwelling?^(B) Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?’

¹¹ The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt?^(A) How long will they refuse to believe in me,^(B) in spite of all the signs^(C) I have performed among them?

²¹ “‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices^(A) and eat^(B) the meat yourselves!

²⁶ Her priests do violence to my law^(A) and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common;^(B) they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean;^(C) and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned^(D) among them.^(E)

⁷ “For the lips of a priest^(A) ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger^(B) of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.^{(C) 8} But you have turned from the way^(D) and by your teaching have caused many to stumble;^(E) you have violated the covenant^(F) with Levi,”^(G) says the Lord Almighty. ⁹ “So I have caused you to be despised^(H) and humiliated^(I) before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality^(J) in matters of the law.”^(K)
