Woe to Those Who Rely on Egypt

¹⁴ and if you say, ‘No, we will go and live in Egypt,^(A) where we will not see war or hear the trumpet^(B) or be hungry for bread,’^(C)

¹⁵ But the king rebelled^(A) against him by sending his envoys to Egypt^(B) to get horses and a large army.^(C) Will he succeed? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the treaty and yet escape?^(D)

¹⁶ Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence^(A) for the people of Israel but will be a reminder^(B) of their sin in turning to her for help.^(C) Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.^(D)’”
