Obedience Commanded

4 Now, Israel, hear the decrees^(A) and laws I am about to teach^(B) you. Follow them so that you may live^(C) and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

³ He humbled^(A) you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna,^(B) which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach^(C) you that man does not live on bread^(D) alone but on every word that comes from the mouth^(E) of the Lord.^(F)

⁴⁷ They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.^(A) By them you will live long^(B) in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
