¹⁶ Then put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law,^(A) which I will give you.

²¹ Place the cover on top of the ark^(A) and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law^(B) that I will give you.

²² There, above the cover between the two cherubim^(A) that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet^(B) with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.^(C)

²¹ In the tent of meeting,^(A) outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law,^(B) Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps^(C) burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance^(D) among the Israelites for the generations to come.

¹⁸ When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai,^(A) he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone^(B) inscribed by the finger of God.^(C)

²⁰ He took the tablets of the covenant law^(A) and placed them in the ark,^(B) attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover^(C) over it.

¹³ He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover^(A) above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die.^(B)

⁵⁰ Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle^(A) of the covenant law^(B)—over all its furnishings^(C) and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it.

⁸⁹ When Moses entered the tent of meeting^(A) to speak with the Lord,^(B) he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover^(C) on the ark of the covenant law.^(D) In this way the Lord spoke to him.
