⁸ And ^(A)I will give to you and to your ^[a]descendants after you the land where you live as a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and ^(B)I will be their God.”

^43 (A)So the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and ^(B)they took possession of it and lived in it.

⁵ But He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot of ground, and yet, ^(A)He promised that He would give it to him as a possession, and to his descendants after him, even though he had no child.
