¹⁹ Your^[a] servant has found favor in your^[b] eyes,^(A) and you^[c] have shown great kindness^(B) to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains;^(C) this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

⁴ Joseph found favor in his eyes^(A) and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household,^(B) and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.^(C)

Moses and the Glory of the Lord

¹² Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’^(A) but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name^(B) and you have found favor^(C) with me.’

¹³ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways^(A) so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”^(B)

¹⁷ And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked,^(A) because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”^(B)

⁹ “Lord,” he said, “if I have found favor^(A) in your eyes, then let the Lord go with us.^(B) Although this is a stiff-necked^(C) people, forgive our wickedness and our sin,^(D) and take us as your inheritance.”^(E)

¹⁵ If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me^(A)—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”

² And Ruth the Moabite^(A) said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain^(B) behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.^(C)”

Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.”

³⁰ But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,^(A) Mary; you have found favor with God.^(B)
