⁴¹ You will be released from my oath if, when you go to my clan, they refuse to give her to you—then you will be released from my oath.’^(A)

¹² “Now then, please swear to me^(A) by the Lord that you will show kindness^(B) to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign^(C)

¹⁷ Now the men had said to her, “This oath^(A) you made us swear will not be binding on us

²⁰ But if you tell what we are doing, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.^(A)”

²⁰ This is what we will do to them: We will let them live, so that God’s wrath will not fall on us for breaking the oath^(A) we swore to them.”
