A Rebuke to Egypt’s Ecology and Industry

“The water sources[a] of the Nile[b] will be dried up,
    and the river[c] will become dry and parched.
The canals will stink,
    and[d] the tributaries of Egypt will dwindle and dry up.
        Reeds and rushes will wither away.[e]
And the bulrushes along the Nile,[f]
    along the mouth of the Nile,[g] will wither away.
All the sown fields of the Nile will become parched,
    and[h] they will be blown away;
        there will be nothing left.[i]
