⁴ “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?^(A)
    Tell me, if you understand.^(B)

²⁵ In the beginning^(A) you laid the foundations of the earth,
    and the heavens^(B) are the work of your hands.^(C)

²⁹ when he gave the sea its boundary^(A)
    so the waters would not overstep his command,^(B)
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.^(C)

¹² Who has measured the waters^(A) in the hollow of his hand,^(B)
    or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?^(C)
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
    or weighed the mountains on the scales
    and the hills in a balance?^(D)

“Only if the heavens above can be measured^(A)
    and the foundations of the earth below be searched out
will I reject^(B) all the descendants of Israel
    because of all they have done,”
declares the Lord.
