⁸ Meanwhile, Abner^(B) son of Ner, the commander of Saul’s army, had taken Ish-Bosheth^(C) son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim.^(D)

²⁹ All that night Abner and his men marched through the Arabah.^(A) They crossed the Jordan, continued through the morning hours^[a] and came to Mahanaim.^(B)

Absalom’s Death

²⁴ David went to Mahanaim,^(A) and Absalom crossed the Jordan with all the men of Israel.

³² Now Barzillai was very old, eighty years of age. He had provided for the king during his stay in Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy^(A) man.
