¹⁵ “You must not act unjustly^(A) when deciding a case. Do not be partial^(B) to the poor or give preference to the rich;^(C) judge your neighbor fairly.

¹⁷ For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God, showing no partiality and taking no bribe.

¹⁶ They sent their disciples to Him, with the Herodians.^(A) “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You defer to no one, for You don’t show partiality.^[a](B)

²¹ I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe^(A) these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favoritism.

The Sin of Favoritism

2 My brothers, do not show favoritism as you hold on to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.^(A)

⁹ But if you show favoritism,^(A) you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
