³³ Listen to my instruction and be wise;
    do not disregard it.

    watching daily at my doors,
    waiting at my doorway.

    and receive favor from the Lord.^(D)
36 But those who fail to find me harm themselves;^(E)
    all who hate me love death.”^(F)

⁷ Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
    whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.^(A)
8 Do not rebuke mockers^(B) or they will hate you;
    rebuke the wise and they will love you.^(C)
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
    teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.^(D)

12 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
    but whoever hates correction is stupid.^(A)

¹⁸ Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame,^(A)
    but whoever heeds correction is honored.^(B)

³² Those who disregard discipline despise themselves,^(A)
    but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.^(B)
