Now why dost thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee? Is thy counselor perished? For pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail.

“Now, why do you cry out loudly? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished? For agony has gripped you like a woman in childbirth.
Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished, that pains have taken you like a woman in labor?
Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail.
Now, why are you shouting loudly? Is there no king with you? Has your counselor perished so that anguish grips you like a woman in labor?
Now why do you cry out so loudly? Isn’t the king in you? Or has your counselor perished, so that pain has seized you like that of a woman in labor?
Why are you now crying out? Don’t you have a king? Has your counselor been destroyed, that you are seized with pain like a woman in labor?
Jerusalem, why are you crying? Don't you have a king? Have your advisors gone? Are you suffering like a woman in childbirth?
Now why dost thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished, that pangs have seized thee as a woman in travail?
Now, why art thou drawn together with grief? Hast thou no king in thee, or is thy counsellor perished, because sorrow hath taken thee as a woman in labour?
Now, why are you crying so loudly? Is your king gone? Have you lost your wise leader? Is that why you are suffering like a woman in labor?
You people in Jerusalem, you are crying aloud like people who have no king. You cry like people who have no wise leader. You have bad pains like a woman who is giving birth to a baby.
But now, why are you shouting so loudly? Is it because you have no king among you? Has the one who guided you perished, so that pain now has gripped you like a woman giving birth?
Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished, that pain seized you like a woman in labor?

Now, why do you cry so loudly? ·Is your king gone [Have you no king/King; C either a human king or God]? Have you lost your ·helper [counselor; wise guide], so that you are in pain, like a woman ·trying to give birth [in labor]?

So then, why do you shout a loud shout? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished that pangs like a woman in labor have seized you?
But for now, you scream in terror. Where is your king to lead you? He is dead! Where are your wise men? All are gone! Pain has gripped you like a woman in labor.
So why the doomsday hysterics? You still have a king, don’t you? But maybe he’s not doing his job and you’re panicked like a woman in labor. Well, go ahead—twist and scream, Daughter Jerusalem. You are like a woman in childbirth. You’ll soon be out of the city, on your way and camping in the open country. And then you’ll arrive in Babylon. What you lost in Jerusalem will be found in Babylon. God will give you new life again. He’ll redeem you from your enemies.
Now why do you cry loudly? Have you no king? Has your counselor perished, that agony has seized you like the woman in labor?

Jerusalem, why are you now shouting so loudly? Has your king disappeared? Has your wise leader been destroyed? Is this why pain grips you as if you were a woman in labor?
Why are you crying out so loudly now? Don’t you have a king? Has your ruler died? Is that why pain comes on you like the pain of a woman having a baby?
Why do you now cry aloud— have you no king? Has your ruler perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor?

Now why art thou drawn together with mourning? whether a king is not to thee, either thy counsellor perished? for sorrow hath taken thee as a woman travailing of child. (Now why art thou altogether drawn with mourning? is there not a king for thee, or hath thy counsellor perished? hath sorrow taken thee like a woman with child in labour, or giving birth?)
Now, why dost thou shout aloud? A king -- is there none in thee? Hath thy counsellor perished, That taken hold of thee hath pain as a travailing woman?
