(A)So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, (B)to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. (C)David and all Israel went up to (D)Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, which belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the Lord (E)who is enthroned above the cherubim, where His name is called. And they [a]carried the ark of God on a new cart from (F)the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, (G)with songs and with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

When they came to (H)the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, because the oxen nearly overturned it. 10 But the anger of the Lord burned against Uzza, so He struck him (I)because he had put out his hand toward the ark; (J)and he died there before God. 11 Then David became angry because [b]of the Lords outburst against Uzza; and he called that place [c]Perez-uzza as it is to this day. 12 David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside (K)to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months; and (L)the Lord blessed the family of Obed-edom and all that he had.

So David assembled all Israel,(A) from the Shihor River(B) in Egypt to Lebo Hamath,(C) to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.(D) David and all Israel went to Baalah(E) of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim(F)—the ark that is called by the Name.

They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s(G) house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.(H)

When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger(I) burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down(J) because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[a](K)

12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(L) the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household(M) and everything he had.
