2 And he smote Moab, and the Moabites became David’s servants, and [a]brought gifts.
3 ¶ And David smote [b]Hadadezer King of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to establish his border by the river [c]Perath.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and (A)destroyed all the chariots, but he reserved of them an hundred chariots.

New International Version
2 David also defeated the Moabites,(A) and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.
3 Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah,(B) in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at[a] the Euphrates River.(C) 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung(D) all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
