2 And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.
3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his [a]rule to the river Euphrates. 4 David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and David hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots.

New International Version
2 David also defeated the Moabites,(A) and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.
3 Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah,(B) in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at[a] the Euphrates River.(C) 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung(D) all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
