25 The gatekeepers’ relatives who lived in the villages had to come and help them at certain times. Each time they came they helped the gatekeepers for seven days. 26 Because they were dependable, four gatekeepers were made the leaders of all the gatekeepers. They were Levites. They were responsible for the rooms and treasures in the Temple of God. 27 They stayed up all night guarding the Temple of God. And they opened it every morning.

25 Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day(A) periods. 26 But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries(B) in the house of God. 27 They would spend the night stationed around the house of God,(C) because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key(D) for opening it each morning.
