Every woman who prays or preaches without her head covered does not respect her head. It is the same as if she had her hair cut off. If a woman does not cover her head, she might as well cut off her hair also. If a woman is ashamed to have her hair cut off, she should cover her head. Man is made like God and His shining-greatness. For this reason a man should not have his head covered when he prays or preaches, but the woman respects the man.

But every woman who prays or prophesies(A) with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.(B) For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

A man ought not to cover his head,[a] since he is the image(C) and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
