1 Corinthians 14:2-4

2 For he that speaketh in a tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man [a]understandeth; but in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men edification, and [b]exhortation, and consolation. 4 He that speaketh in a tongue [c]edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth [d]edifieth the church.

New International Version
2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a](A) does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them;(B) they utter mysteries(C) by the Spirit. 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening,(D) encouraging(E) and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue(F) edifies(G) themselves, but the one who prophesies(H) edifies the church.
