53 For this corruptible body must be clothed(A) with incorruptibility,(B) and this mortal body must be clothed with immortality. 54 When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:
Death has been swallowed up(C) in victory.[a](D)
55 Where, death, is your victory?

53 For the perishable(A) must clothe itself with the imperishable,(B) and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[a](C)
