⁵³For what is mortal must be changed into what is immortal; what will die must be changed into what cannot die. ⁵⁴^(A)So when this takes place, and the mortal has been changed into the immortal, then the scripture will come true: “Death is destroyed; victory is complete!”

Where, Death, is your power to hurt?”

⁵³For the perishable^(A) must clothe itself with the imperishable,^(B) and the mortal with immortality. ⁵⁴When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”^[a]^(C)
