17 That’s why I have sent Timothy to you; he’s my child in the Lord, and I love him and trust him. He will remind you how I conduct myself in the Messiah Jesus, just as I teach everywhere, in every assembly.
18 Some people are getting puffed up, as though I wasn’t going to come to you. 19 But I will come to you quickly, if the Lord wants it that way; and then I’ll find out, not what these puffed-up people are saying, but how powerful they are.

17 For this reason I have sent to you(A) Timothy,(B) my son(C) whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.(D)
18 Some of you have become arrogant,(E) as if I were not coming to you.(F) 19 But I will come to you very soon,(G) if the Lord is willing,(H) and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but what power they have.
