1 John 2:14-16
Revised Standard Version
14 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.

I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.(B)
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,(C)
and the word of God(D) lives in you,(E)
and you have overcome the evil one.(F)
On Not Loving the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world.(G) If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them.(H) 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh,(I) the lust of the eyes,(J) and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
