10 [a]In this are the children of God known, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, [b]neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 [c]For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that (A)we should love one another,
12 [d]Not as (B)[e]Cain which was of that wicked one, and slew his brother: [f]and wherefore slew he him? because his own works were evil, and his brother’s good.

10 This is how we know who the children of God(A) are and who the children of the devil(B) are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love(C) their brother and sister.(D)
