14 We know that we have crossed over from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love[a] remains in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 16 This is how we have come to know love: Jesus[b] laid down his life for us. And we also should lay down our lives for our brothers.

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.(F) And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.(G)
