38 Then the priest Zadok, the prophet Nathan, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites(A) went down, had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and took him to Gihon. 39 The priest Zadok took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon.(B) Then they blew the ram’s horn,(C) and all the people proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!” (D) 40 All the people went up after him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy(E) that the earth split open from the sound.[a]

New International Version
38 So Zadok(A) the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites(B) and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon mount King David’s mule, and they escorted him to Gihon.(C) 39 Zadok the priest took the horn of oil(D) from the sacred tent(E) and anointed Solomon. Then they sounded the trumpet(F) and all the people shouted,(G) “Long live King Solomon!” 40 And all the people went up after him, playing pipes(H) and rejoicing greatly, so that the ground shook with the sound.
