¹¹ Then the Lord said to Solomon, “Since you have done this^[a] and did not keep My covenant and My statutes, which I commanded you, I will tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.^(A)

¹⁵ They rejected His statutes and His covenant He had made with their ancestors^(A) and the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and became worthless themselves,^(B) following the surrounding nations the Lord had commanded them not to imitate.^(C)

²³ They entered and possessed it, but they did not obey Your voice or live according to Your instructions.^(A) They failed to perform all You commanded them to do,^(B) and so You have brought all this disaster on them.
