² And ^(A)he cried out against the altar by the word of the Lord and said, “Altar, altar, this is what the Lord says: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, ^(B)Josiah by name; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and human bones shall burn on you.’”

²⁴ Then ^(A)the people of the land ^[a]killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made his son Josiah king in his place.

³ Now ^(A)in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam the scribe, to the house of the Lord, saying,

34 ^(A)Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

Faithless Israel

⁶ Then the Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She ^(A)went up on every high hill and under every leafy tree, and she prostituted herself there.
