King Jeroboam said to the prophet, “Please pray for me to the Lord your God, and ask him to heal my arm!”

The prophet prayed to the Lord, and the king's arm was healed. Then the king said to the prophet, “Come home with me and have something to eat. I will reward you for what you have done.”

The prophet answered, “Even if you gave me half of your wealth, I would not go with you or eat or drink anything with you.

Then the king said to the man of God, “Intercede(A) with the Lord your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored.” So the man of God interceded with the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored and became as it was before.

The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me for a meal, and I will give you a gift.”(B)

But the man of God answered the king, “Even if you were to give me half your possessions,(C) I would not go with you, nor would I eat bread(D) or drink water here.
