¹⁵ “The Lord will strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water; he will root up Israel out of this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their sacred poles,^[a] provoking the Lord to anger.^(A)

²⁰ then I will pluck you^[a] up from the land that I have given you,^[b] and this house, which I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.^(A)
