you also have done more evil than all who were before you, and (A)have gone and made for yourself other gods and (B)molten images to provoke Me to anger, and have (C)cast Me behind your back— 10 therefore behold, I am bringing evil on the house of Jeroboam: I (D)will cut off from Jeroboam [a]every male person, (E)both bond and free in Israel, and I (F)will make a clean sweep of the house of Jeroboam, as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone. 11 (G)Anyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs will eat. And he who dies in the field the birds of the sky will eat; for Yahweh has spoken it.”’ 12 But you, arise, go to your house. (H)When your feet enter the city the child will die. 13 And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for [b]he alone of Jeroboam’s family will come to the grave, because in him (I)something good was found toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. 14 Moreover, (J)Yahweh will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam this day [c]and from now on.

You have done more evil(A) than all who lived before you.(B) You have made for yourself other gods, idols(C) made of metal; you have aroused(D) my anger and turned your back on me.(E)

10 “‘Because of this, I am going to bring disaster(F) on the house of Jeroboam. I will cut off from Jeroboam every last male in Israel—slave or free.[a](G) I will burn up the house of Jeroboam as one burns dung, until it is all gone.(H) 11 Dogs(I) will eat those belonging to Jeroboam who die in the city, and the birds(J) will feed on those who die in the country. The Lord has spoken!’

12 “As for you, go back home. When you set foot in your city, the boy will die. 13 All Israel will mourn for him and bury him. He is the only one belonging to Jeroboam who will be buried, because he is the only one in the house of Jeroboam in whom the Lord, the God of Israel, has found anything good.(K)

14 “The Lord will raise up for himself a king over Israel who will cut off the family of Jeroboam. Even now this is beginning to happen.[b] 15 And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot(L) Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused(M) the Lord’s anger by making Asherah(N) poles.[c] 16 And he will give Israel up because of the sins(O) Jeroboam has committed and has caused Israel to commit.”
