28 In the third year of Judah’s King Asa,(A) Baasha killed Nadab(B) and reigned in his place.

29 When Baasha became king, he struck down the entire house of Jeroboam.(C) He did not leave Jeroboam any survivors but[a] destroyed his family according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.(D) 30 This was because Jeroboam had angered[b] the Lord God of Israel by the sins he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.(E)

29 As soon as he began to reign, he killed Jeroboam’s whole family.(A) He did not leave Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all, according to the word of the Lord given through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite. 30 This happened because of the sins(B) Jeroboam had committed and had caused(C) Israel to commit, and because he aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel.
