2 The Lord said, “You were nothing, but I took you and made you a leader over my people Israel. But you have followed the ways of Jeroboam and have led my people Israel to sin. Their sins have made me angry, 3 so, Baasha, I will soon destroy you and your family. I will do to you what I did to the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat. 4 Anyone from your family who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs, and anyone from your family who dies in the fields will be eaten by birds.”

2 “I lifted you up from the dust(A) and appointed you ruler(B) over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam and caused(C) my people Israel to sin and to arouse my anger by their sins. 3 So I am about to wipe out Baasha(D) and his house,(E) and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat. 4 Dogs(F) will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and birds(G) will feed on those who die in the country.”
