⁴ How long will ^(A)the land mourn,
And the herbs of every field wither?
^(B)The beasts and birds are consumed,
^(C)For the wickedness of those who dwell there,
Because they said, “He will not see our final end.”

⁵ Yes, the deer also gave birth in the field,
But ^[a]left because there was no grass.

⁶ And ^(A)the wild donkeys stood in the desolate heights;
They sniffed at the wind like jackals;
Their eyes failed because there was no grass.”

³ Therefore ^(A)the land will mourn;
And ^(B)everyone who dwells there will waste away
With the beasts of the field
And the birds of the air;
Even the fish of the sea will be taken away.
