⁹ And they will say, ‘^(A)Because they abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and they ^[a]adopted other gods and worshiped and served them, for that reason the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’”

^18 (A)Did your fathers not do the same, so that our God brought on us and on this city all this trouble? Yet you are adding to the wrath against Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

² “This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘You yourselves have seen all the disaster that I have brought on Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are in ^(A)ruins and no one lives in them,

¹¹ Indeed, ^(A)all Israel has violated Your Law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the ^(B)curse has gushed forth on us, along with the oath which is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him. ¹² So He has ^(C)confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our ^[a](D)rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great disaster; for under the entire heaven there has ^(E)not been done anything like what was done in Jerusalem.
