Good News Translation
5 They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God's power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time.
6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. 7 (A)Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.

5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power(A) until the coming of the salvation(B) that is ready to be revealed(C) in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice,(D) though now for a little while(E) you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.(F) 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness(G) of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire(H)—may result in praise, glory and honor(I) when Jesus Christ is revealed.(J)
