^12 (A)Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they ^(B)slander you as evildoers, they may ^[a]because of your good deeds, as they observe them, ^(C)glorify God ^(D)on the day of ^[b]visitation.

^16 [a]and keep a ^(A)good conscience so that in the thing in which ^(B)you are slandered, those who disparage your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.

¹⁴ If you are insulted ^[a](A)for the name of Christ, ^(B)you are blessed, ^(C)because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you.

¹⁶ but if anyone suffers as a ^(A)Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to ^(B)glorify God in this name.
