1 Peter 2:8-10
Complete Jewish Bible
8 also he is
a stone that will make people stumble,
a rock over which they will trip.[a]
They are stumbling at the Word, disobeying it — as had been planned. 9 But you are a chosen people,[b] the King’s cohanim,[c] a holy nation,[d] a people for God to possess![e] Why? In order for you to declare the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; before, you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.[f]

King James Version
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
